It was a weird week for trailers. The greater nerd population is geeking out over the Venom standalone movie teaser and the upcoming premiere of Black Panther next week (rightfully so, on both accounts) – but we’re going to showcase some of the more niche trailers that dropped this week. We are Geeky Freaky, after all.
The latest off the wall Netflix exclusive features Sanrio’s Aggretsuko, a kawaii fox who works in an office and likes to sing karaoke metal music in her free time to unwind. She’s cute, she’s cuddly, and she’s full of RAGE. Definitely one of the more unique Sanrio characters to have been released lately (sorry, Gudetama, you’ve got some competition).
Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell
Why are they making a sixth film in the Tremors franchise, you ask? Because Tremors is awesome, you plebian! Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell is a straight to video film available later this year on DVD and Blu-Ray. This film takes graboids to a brand new locale (the arctic) and features Jamie Kennedy reprising his role as Travis Welker, the son of infamous graboid-hunter Burt Gummer (Michael Gross).
After Altered Carbon was released earlier this week to critical and fan acclaim, Netflix followed by immediately dropping the trailer for another powerhouse in the genre. Mute, directed by Duncan Jones (Warcraft) and starring Alexander Skarsgard, Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux is available on Netflix starting February 23. Thanks to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, we have no lack of badass cyberpunk content to choose from – what a time to be alive!
We watched this trailer and couldn’t really figure it out, but we’re excited for it regardless.
