Lethal Amounts In conjunction with the Estate of John Wayne Gacy present…
Goodbye Pogo, The Art of John Wayne Gacy, will show at Lethal Amounts May 10-12, 2018.
Opening Reception – May 10th at 8pm marking the anniversary of Gacy’s execution by lethal injection.
The value of art is a perceived value. There is no science to calculate the works exact material worth, but we can recognize when art is a reflection of a time, a window into what the culture is saying at that moment. Is John Wayne Gacy a real artist?
His polarizing work sparks emotions ranging from rage and terror, to curiosity and fascination. Gacy, however infamous, is a part of history, and the darkest part of American culture. Is it Gacy’s artistic prowess that created value for his work or our society’s obsession with these dark characters that made him a celebrity? Goodbye Pogo, The Art of John Wayne Gacy will be exploring these questions and the fascination behind his work.
A portion of the proceeds will be going to the victims of violent crimes.
