Los Angeles Edwardian Ball Promises to be a Magical Time February 9-10

The Edwardian Ball (named for morose artist Edward Gorey, not the Victorian period) has been a staple of San Francisco for many years, expanding to Los Angeles just shy of a decade ago. In addition to spanning two cities, the Los Angeles portion of the Edwardian Ball will now span two dates – Friday will be the first incarnation of the Los Angeles Edwardian World’s Faire, and Saturday the classic Ball. Both events will take places in the historic and decadent Globe Theater downtown. Costumes for both nights are encouraged, but not required.

The Edwardian World’s Faire (February 9th) will be an exposition of Art, Science, Technology and History – the theme this year is “Space and the Future.” It boasts kinetic and interactive art, exhibits and games in an immersive environment that hearkens back to the World’s Faires of old. The Edwardian Gardens below promises gaming, topiary, picnics and portraits, as well as absinthe cocktails and food – this event is family friendly! Plenty to do for all ages. And of course, what would a World’s Faire be without entertainment and performance? Friday night will have a star studded cast:

● Vau de Vire Society, Co-Hosts of The Edwardian Ball

The stage will be alight with theatre, opera, Cancan dancers, bands, cirque acts, dancers, and DJs – even a steam-powered tea garden.
